A strange piece of parchment, a strange request, "sign here" it said, wether it was a signature, your name or just some random jibberish, upon signing up, the parchment started to glow white and blue, the glow seemed to sorround you, and suddenly you were elsewhere, all of you appear at the same time at a large platform standing in midair, about 50ft wide, 500 or so long, there are several such platforms at your sides, all leading to a large building at the edge of a waterfall, one that as you look below, you realize it leads to pure blackness, emptyness, if you fell down there, your body would never hit land, it is a bit hard to make out, but you can see something moving behind the waterfall Approaching the large building that all platforms lead to, you see a circular device with several numbers hanging on the roof side, and two handles pointing directly up from the center, you see that each platform leads to a guarded gate and that a strange tune is playing from somewhere, besides the guards, a dark and weary looking man is waiting for you at the gate, looking at a small device tied with a chain to his jacket For the characters that may know depending on their backstories and all, i believe someone was from eberron but i cant remember who, anyway, the circular devices are in fact clocks, and the large building is pretty much the teleportation equivalent of a train station.

A tall young elf, face slightly weathered and hair unkempt arrives. Surveying the situation, talking softly to himself, "Well I did want to learn about new things.....".
Nodding to the guards I walk up to the man, "Are you Rincewater? That's the only name I know of whom might be here. That is, if this is Discworld".
Looking around at the strange devices and head still pondering just how he arrived here. Pointing to the circular device, "So what does that do?"

Keama looks around himself, half in wonder, half paralyzed with fear.
Note to self, read fine print next time.
He wanders up to the guard, mildly terrified by everything going on around him, then looks up at the butler.
So is it you that stamps my cards now?
Then he turns to the elf.
Nice day to get teleported across dimensions eh?

"Yes, it's a nice day to experience something new. My name is Keryth. I don't suppose that you signed a parchment as well, did you?"

Keama eagerly extends a hand.
Thank the gods I wasn't the only one stupid enough to do it.
He smiles weakly.

Smiling back and shaking hands.
Don't worry, you are alive so cannot be that stupid. So why did you sign it anyways?
Me, I just enjoy learning new things, there's just so much to experience and learn.
And I'm sure that whatever these who requested some help would certainly appreciate whatever assistance can be given by those who's absence will never be missed.
I wonder if the mead is as good here as at other places?

Upon arrival, the entire contents of Youngdead's stomach spills onto the platform. Teleportation is unsettling at the best of times, but when it suddenly whisks you across dimensions with very little warning it's downright, well, nauseating. At least for the young goliath it's quite the upset. He gets up from his knees, spitting the rest of what remains of his meal before he wipes his mouth. He offers apologies to anyone it may have landed on but walks away from the pile of vomit, leaving it as he would in the desert or woods.
He looks around. Finding a few "adventurer" types approaching a well-dressed man, he does the same. "Youngdead," he interrupts with his introduction, extending his hand into the midst of the group. "I've never seen such a place." He says without mind to the conversation around him. He stands well above the heads, but even his neck is bent upwards. He takes in the novel sights like a tourist, though his stature is much more imposing than the groups of giggling school girls taking dozens of pictures per minute.

Chemosh dusted himself off from the teleportation. That was the last time Penelope Pitstop would sign an autograph. Though this was an interesting way to stage a kidnapping she thought looking around. She was wearing her entertainer's outfit with a large amount of gaudy jewelry. Blond hair is spilling out from under her hat. Hidden underneath that was a monk's outfit and a peasant outfit. Hmmmm, if she had to guess it was probably the man staring at the chain that was the kidnapper. Now how would Penelope kill this man? Fake weakness and stab him? That could work. Then what? Get swarmed by guards? How to deal with the guards? Knives tended to work but not against so many. She would figure it out later.
Oh, deary me. I appear to have come to the wrong place. The shotput tournament is almost certainly not here. Any of you find fellows wish to teleport me back home?

The butler looks up from his pocket watch to realize people were arriving at the terminal, he gives a graceful bow as a form of greeting and begins talking "Welcome to Aurelia sirs and lady, we have been expecting you, milord Rincewater will be waiting for you at his desk if you allow me to lead the way there."He listens to the conversation and with but a small frown continues "As far as getting back to your original places, these pendants will transport you back and forth from this station."He hands each of you one of these:

With his eyes still pointed upwards in amazement, Youngdead barely realizes that the object had been placed in his still outstretched hand. It not until someone else responds to it that he realizes his manners, "Thank you. Yes, please lead on."

Keama just dumbly takes the ornament from the waiter, muttering to himself.
Great, from one shower of gobshites, to another. I cannot think of anything that make this worse. At least they don't know abouuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaachooo......squeak.
Keama looks down at his now changed form, his tail wriggling, his snout twitching.
Rats.

"Thanks", as I take the pendant.
Youngdead, I think you missed a spot. Pointing to a spot on the tip of his nose.
Picking up the rodent
How about you resting on my shoulders so you don't fall behind? Just hop off before you sneeze again.
So do you think you'll want some cheese with that mead I was wondering about earlier?

"Well then, follow me please" he answers as he turns around and leads you out of the station to a big city, tall colorful buildings with flowery fields at the edges of the streets, carriages seem like a very common thing here as you can see many of them in the center streets with smaller paths at the sides for people who wish to walk, right at the exit of the station is where most of the commerce seems to gather, several of the tall buildings are labeled with "Shopping District" and have large open doors, while others merely have stores at the first floor, from weapons to dyes to magic tricks, you would be surprised to not find something here, the city has a clear focus on magic, as you see brooms cleaning the streets by themselves, some of the shop signs glowing to bring more attention and even taking care of the gardens and the delivery of the news seem to be magically automated, the butlers guidance on the other side, was pretty pointless as he simply leads you across the largest street directly to the pretty obvious palace, decorated with stained glass patterns and the walls being made of a red yet very smooth kind of stone, the doors are of marble and open automatically as you approach.
(OOC: at this point, youre free to roll any perceptive rolls you wish, from spot and listen to knowledge etc, anything you want to find out specifically you should also point out along the rolls at the OOC thread)

Keama shrieks at the elf as he reaches for him, straightens up and walks as proudly as he can after the butler. But you still see his nostrils flare in interest at the mention of cheese. His eyes dart around constantly, seemingly interested in the stores, likely looking for weapons or equipment.
Well someone has to have half a brain in their heads to have built this place...
He looks at the rest of his party.
So why the hell did they hire us?
he assumes the answers will lie with their new employer, and follows along.

Backing away a bit from Keama as I follow along.
They hire adventurers so they don't feel bad if we die helping them out.
There's from the looks of this place, I'm sure they have people who can handle the problem, it's easier to send a "nobodies" like us to do the dirty work.
This is a pretty nice place though.

Pulling a handkerchief from his pocket, Youngdead blows a loud snort into it and wipes away any debris. He nods a thank you to Keryth, for not letting it linger around for longer.
He had thought that the station had been impressive, his jaw nearly fell out of joint when he first laid eyes on the rest of the city. With so much automation, Ol' Flintfinder's words rang through his mind once more and Youngdead looked around to see the effects on the populace. He smiled politely to the many citizens. He keeps pace with the rest of the group, but remains quiet as they walk.

(A bit late to the party...) "Eeep!"A tiny ball/rug of pink suddenly appears in a flash of light and tumbles to the ground. Blossom knew there was something strange about that man. He just talked way too fast, saying something about a city of magic and monsters and gold, blah blah blahdy blah blah. Waving the parchment in front of her face and handing her some kind of stick, she wasn't sure what he wanted at all as he insistently pointed at a long line at the bottom of the paper. Well, long story short, now she was here.. wherever "here" was. Clambering to her feet, the pixie looked about confused, wondering what all this was about. It seemed like somehow, aside from the "docks" and the "station", this place was a void. And even though Blossom could fly and probably be safe from falling into emptiness for eternity, she still found it unsettling. Being the curious thing she was, she gravitated to the most interesting and mysterious thing in sight. Whatever happened to be inside or behind the waterfall. (well ive given enough time to the group to make their rolls) The butler continues to lead across the large doors, across a red carpeted set of curved stairs leading to asort if inside balcony on the second floor, there he knocks on a set of wooden doors of great craftmanship and after a moment opens them, enters and with a small reverence he states "The adventurers are here milord."A thin man, looking older than he probably is, sitting behind a desk with a pen in hand and a large stack of papers to the side, he stands up and forces a smile in his weary face "My name is Rincewater, the unfortunate soul that happens to be the lord of the city, and before we start i will answer the question you clearly have on your heads, why you when this city has enough magic power it could blow up another city if it wished to? its simple really, the creatures that are assaulting the city are immune to magic, at least to our magic, and our entire military force is composed of casters, if it wasnt for our commander's timely decision to have the forces rise a stone wall and barricade the entire city... well lets just say we wouldnt have lived long enough to send that request."He looks at the window towards the gray wall covering what used to be a lovely view, "Now i know what i am asking you is not easy, but know that i will reward you to the best of my efforts, now what i ask is for you to capture one of these beasts alive, we dont know what they are nor where they come from, so figuring that out should be the very first priority, it would also help to figure a way to defeat them before they figure out a way to get past the wall." he stops for a moment before looking at the butler, now with a commanding voice "Mycroft, there should have been a fifth arrival! go find it before someone gets hurt or worse."Blossom The first thing you realize is that it becomes harder to breathe the lower you go. The second thing you realize is that right below the world, is a giant turtle, just as large if not larger than the entire world itself, swimming in the void like it was water. The last thing you realize, is that 4 gigantic elephants are serving as support between the turtle and the flat world, and that the turtle is in fact carrying all of that along in her never-ending voyage. Yah.... have fun with crazyness

Nice to meet you Mycroft.
Then addressing Rincewater
So just what do these beasties look like? What kind of damage have they done anyways?
Can we talk with some of your military commanders and find out what they have attempted so far? Just what has failed?
And just what are you thinking of when you mention rewards?
