I am wanting to take Unfettered from Tome of Battle, a Legacy Great Sword.
However, 2 issues. 1, I am a Druid and the weapon is made from metal. Can I have it changed to some sort of mundane (so no change in anything) material so I can use it? 2, Even though I am proficient in Great Swords, I would prefer it be a Great Axe purely for aesthetic and fluff reasons. Could I change it to be a Great Axe instead? No other changes needed then. Because the weapon is large sized (in my hands) the only change this would make is that my crit rolls go from 19-20/x2 to x3 instead. Nothing else changes. Oh sorry.. yes, it weighs 4lbs more in it's medium size..

Pretty sure the Weapons of Legacy books allows the type of weapon to be changed to refluff them. Could just say it is a stone axe. Nothing special about the change then.
Also while the issue of legacy weapons is raised here, we should have a register for them so the same weapon cannot be wielded by 2 different characters. That way people need to pick a different weapon or homebrew one.

There are quite a few special stone or wood materials in various books that you could choose from.
