General Rules Of Conduct 1) Be Civil. This is meant to be a catchall for anything the rules do not specifically cover. In whatever discourse in which you engage, be civil. This is a site for roleplaying, not name-calling. 2) No Trolling. Definition of a troll: "a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion." (Wikipedia, but it works). Don't do this. 3) No Flaming. Definition of flaming: "a hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users, often involving the use of profanity." (Wikipedia again, but it works.) Don't do this. 4) No Racial or Sexual Discrimination. By this I mean that no one is to be belittled due to race, gender, or sexual orientation/preference. Even in disagreements (which are permitted), all persons are to be treated with respect. 5) No copyright infringements. Do not post links to sites that offer for free information that is otherwise protected by copyright laws. 6) No pornographic stuff. I say stuff rather than images because when I read your posts, I don't expect (or want) to start reading something that belongs in a romance novel or the BoEF (which is not in use on this site, btw). Having sexual situations in your games is fine, but it should not be explicit or described in detail. 7) English, please. Members are asked only to post in English, as this is an English speaking community. I understand if it is not your first language, but I'd like to be able to understand what you're saying, so unless you have a good in-character reason for posting a different language, then English only. 8) Normal Writing. Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Users consistently abusing this will be warned. 9) Profanity. No excessive profanity, and especially no profanity directed towards other players. Cursing at someone IN CHARACTER is fine, so long as it is not done in excess, but (As noted above) We expect all players to be civil and respectful when talking with each other. 10) No spam. Don't post advertisements for products or services here. Links to other roleplaying sites are fine, but don't make this site an ad service. The administration team reserves the right to add to or modify these rules at any time, but follow the above rules and you should be perfectly fine. Enjoy the Realms!

Rules For Players & Characters1. Players are expected to play their characters. This means that you should be willing to commit to the characters you have created. Respect and adhere to the characters personality and alignment. Does this mean you are stuck acting within a strict limit of behavior? Not at all. A Lawful Good character can have a moment of greed and selfishness, just as a Chaotic Evil character can express genuine love towards another. Alignments and personalities represent how your character should act under normal circumstances. A Good character should not repeatedly steal from their allies, nor should an evil character consistently make sacrifices for others out of the kindness in their heart. This also extends to not letting your characters sit idle and unused. This site is built on the principle of rapid-fire roleplaying, which works better the more characters are involved in games. 2. New Players begin with a single character at level 5. Once their first character is approved, you may create a second character at the same level. Beyond that, in order to obtain more characters, you must reach certain milestones with your existing characters. We do not want players who are constantly making new characters, and then simply abandoning them, or using them for a single thread. We are looking for players who want to see their characters grow and develop over the course of their adventures. 3. In the event you are simply tired of using a character, or feel they have reached the natural end to their story, you can choose to retire the character. Retired characters are not considered dead, but are rendered inactive. Once your character has been retired, you are free to create a new character and begin playing with them. The new characters starting level is equal to the level of your retired character minus 2. This subtraction is cumulative, to a minimum of one. If you really want to keep making new characters after giving up on old ones, don't expect your new characters to start at a high level. We want to encourage people to stick with their characters. 4. All characters start with the appropriate wealth for their level, which you can locate Here. So, for example, a new 5th level character would begin play with 9,000 GP. Our site makes use of a banking system, which tracks the gold of each character. You cannot transfer wealth between characters. This is done to help preserve game balance. A 15th level character does not especially care about 10K Gold and can easily part with it, while such a quantity of wealth drastically changes the abilities of a 5th level character, making them far stronger than their peers. 5. Be reasonable with your characters. This is not so much a rule as a guideline. Everyone has different measures as to what is a 'reasonable' strength for their character. For some people, that means very powerful characters, with a lot of effort put into optimizing their build. For others, reasonable means that the character is only about as strong as an NPC of similar level. We ask all players to try and avoid characters who are strong enough to significantly disrupt the storytelling aspect of the game. This is especially important when involved in a Campaign, as Campaign events shape the course of the game world. It doesn't exactly make for an epic story to see half the world of Faerun destroyed simply because one player took advantage the games rules to create a veritable demi-god. Be reasonable with your characters. They can be strong, but do not deliberately exploit the mechanics solely for the sake of making an overpowered character.
