I know we're mainly using 3.5 for everything, but I think Pathfinder had a few good ideas with how they merged several skills and got rid of Use Rope. Is there any chance the Mods/Admins might rule that we use the Pathfinder Skill list?

Honestly, I've considered it for some of my small-group games. However, on a large-scale like this, it's too much of a headache to try to implement. Not only would the skills have to be combined, but several feats would have to be changed, skill points would have to be altered, and a number of other minor things that I'm not thinking of at the moment would get screwy. Good idea, but on a large scale it's just not feasible.

In my opinion, no feats would need to change and neither would skill points. Honestly, it's by far a less jarring change than some of the others I've already seen approved here. My group uses it now with the following stipulation:
"If your class has one skill in the combination, it has what that combination gives you. For instance, if a class has Spot but not Listen, Perception is still a class skill.
If an item or ability gives you a bonus to a certain skill, it only gives you a bonus to the combination for that specific purpose. If I had an ability that gave me a +5 bonus to Spot, I would receive a +5 bonus to Perception ONLY when using it for my visual senses."

Combining skills results in fewer skills, which increases the number of skills a player can take with his character's skill points. Which means the class skill points would need to be reworked. Then you have feats like stealthy, acrobatic, agile, etc., which you have to figure out or rewrite. It really would be a headache for the staff.
Not to mention that it would be mandatory across the board for all characters, requiring the ones already made to be reworked, and requiring all new players to learn new stuff when coming to the board, which we've tried to avoid (hence why Grod's fixes are optional, not mandatory).

In the end, it would typical mean 1 extra per level, and since it would affect all character, there's no real need to change based on balance, unless you just don't want people to have many skills. Of course, I'm of the opinion characters get too FEW skill points in 3.5, causing even classes like Rogue which have a lot to be forced to have a decently high Int if they want to function in any capacity as a skill monkey.
The feats don't really require rewrites. You only need to say what I had above in parenthesis.
But I'm not really arguing for it at this point--I don't think it's too big a deal either way--I just think you're making it out to be way more complicated than it is.
