Gday there. I saw your advertisement on the Giantitp forums. What 3.5e material/books do you allow for development of a new character?
Do you use starting packs/kits and bonus regional feat rules in the FR setting?

Excellent question,Gaiyamato, and welcome to the board. While this is by no means a comprehensive list, here is the highlighted version of acceptable content. - All Officially published 3.5 books, including content from other settings. We can presume that some version of events would allow a character native to ebberon to wind up in Faerun, for example. Though obviously, you would still be restricted by logical sensibilities (A character from ebberron could not take a Faerun regional feat, for example)
- 3rd party content, including Dungeon Magazine and the content provided in the dragon compendium, will be allowed on a case by case basis. There is simply too much of it to provide a blanket statement of yes or no.
- Certain Homebrew content has already been approved, and you can request additional homebrew content. I highly recomend checking those out before getting too deep into making your first character.
- Pathfinder content will be allowed on a case by case basis, but only for material that is not otherwise covered by 3.5. You could not, for example, play a pathfinder wizard, since 3.5 already has a wizard class.
- If you have any specific sources that you want to inquire about, then please feel free to ask.
As far as kits or packages go, we are not currently using those rules. Nor are we offering regional bonus feats, any such feat will need to be acquired with the normal feat allotment available to your character.

Excellent! A few more points/questions then before my first submission. 1- Your black text is unreadable in the Green theme unless I highlight it. 2- How are we generating ability scores? 3- The player introduction mentions that LA by-off can be assumed. I want to play a LA +2 Faerun race, the SRD says that I cannot buy off my first level until level 6. Will I need to start with the 2 LA and wait until I reach level 6, or are you hand-waiving low LA adjustments? 4- I want to use a progression class from Libris Mortis to allow me to start as an undead, are they allowed? Specifically the Wight class. 5- Servant of the Fallen feat (Lost Empires) specifies Cleric 1, could that be waved in appropriate cases to allow someone to worship a dead god? Clearly this would then give no benefit except for thematic purposes or for prestige classes that require the worship of a dead God.

1) My fault. Text shouldn't be black in that theme.
2) 48-point buy. A number of adventures end up being solo (in my experience) in this sort of play, and that helps offset weaknesses in a build.
3) First LA can be bought off at level 3. So you'll start at ECL4 with 7,000 XP. Next level can be bought off at 6.
4) Shouldn't be a problem, but I'll take a look when I get to my books.
5) I don't mind waiving it, but I'll let Nine weigh in on this one.

Text issue should be fixed in Green now.

Two quick points.
Regarding Monster Progression Classes: The monster classes are built around the monsters racial hit die and their Level adjustment, and were not intended to intermix with LA buyoff, which would lower the overall effective 'level' needed to complete the progression. We may need to do some reworking of the monster classes or figure out some way to resolve this issue.
Regarding Servant Of The Fallen: Is there a specific mechanical reason you want this feat, and if so, what is it? Or is it just for fluff purpose? If its the latter, than I see no reason to deny you access to it, though I would also say that if you wanted to worship a dead god then go ahead, and there are plenty of ways to get a +1 luck bonus to a roll. If you do require servant of the fallen for a specific prestige class or other feat, what did you have in mind?

Looking at the Wight Monster Class, the only thing I'd have an issue with is the Spawn Creation, since it can get out of hand very quickly. If we cap it along the lines of, say, a dread necromancer's undead HD cap, there shouldn't be a problem with the class (at least as I see it) even with the LA buyoff.

I was going to see about Horned Harbinger later on. Was going to go for a martial champion of Myrkul given that that particular prestige class allows entry without requiring spellcasting. What about modifying the Wight class down to only a 4 level class by penalising the point buy? Could use a system similar to the E6 LA adjustment rules: dungeons.wikia.com/wiki/E6_(3.5e_Sourcebook)/Rules#Races_with_a_Level_AdjustmentI did that in a large campaign with a high pb once and it worked well. That would give me only 16pb, but the score bonuses from my base race and the class would make up for that to some extent. Thanks for fixing the colours too.

Happy to cap the spawn creation. Not really the reason I was going for it, was more a perk.

Nine's the final arbiter on what's permitted, but my suggestion would be to cap the spawn creation. I think it's fine at that point.

Spawn are definitely limited, we do not need players instigating an endlessly reproducing wave of created spawn. Follow the HD limits for the dread necromancer, that is a suitable guideline for the ability.
As for the Monster class itself, and the point buy option, I will need to take some time to look it over and see.

No worries. The Wight class is kinda crap, I think they were trying to balance against the spawn thing. lol
This build is theme.. not power.

Gaiyamato here.
Ok, the guidelines suggested I make a new account for my actual characters to use the banking etc. So this is it. Is this right? I will keep the OOC down to a minimum with this account.
I can delete it if I got this wrong.
Also side note - having each of my characters with their own gmail account is kind of amusing.

You can post your character sheet under your player account. Character accounts should be limited to In character posting only. Aside from that, you've got it right.

Question: NPCs such as Cohorts and assistants etc.
What do we use to generate ability scores?
Also I found a link on here somewhere before with NPC wealth by level a ton of other useful info but cannot find the damn thing anymore. Would save me wading through the books for it.

1) Good question. Staff will get back to you on that, as it's not something we've discussed yet.
2) I'll see what I can find.

Another question - How do you feel about use of the Otyugh hole from Complete Scoundrel? 3000gp in exchange for a bit of back story and the Iron will feat essentially.

The Otyugh hole, and the similar adventure sites from Complete scoundrel are allowable, provided you complete the adventure as part of an IC thread of appropriate difficulty. You cant just say you did it as part of your backstory
