Perigaland was a bustle of activity. Two galleys, one from the south in Tethyr and one from across the lake bringing merchants and travelers from as far away as the Mulhorand have just this day docked. Goods and supplies are being unloaded, sold from the very crates as they are hoisted across on the docks even. Many Halfling and Gnome merchants already crowd the docks, attempting to sell their goods for export to the ship captains.
The central market place is a hive of activity, with day travelers from Esmeltaran and locals crowding the stalls. Most of the stalls are selling fresh food items, brightly coloured clay pots, trinkets and handcrafts of little value. Surrounding the market place is a ring of shops, including minor magic item shops, weapon and armor smithies and various goods stores. Mostly run by Halflings, or Dwarves. Outside the small temple of Gond are two mechanid shops, with small Gondsman mechanids assisting the Gnomish and Dwarf smiths in the creation of mechanical wonders, largel far too expensive for most of the population to ever dream of owning. A female elf bard is giving a musical solo, just outside of the Shrine of Sune near the north gate of the town, a small crowd of dust-covered travelers coming through the north gate have stopped, along with some of the local Halflings to admire the beautiful music and even dance along to the tune. Two larger inns feature near the docks, one with the title "Dalibrandy Waystop" and another "Faldar Inn" that features a large number of Dwarves drinking on the front porch. Both inns have stables attached to them.
Standing in the middle of the town is a large 3 story building made of mud-rendered wood, painted white (like most of the other smaller buildings in the town) with brightly coloured murals depicting the life of the townsfolk on it's walls. Bright tiles in pastel colours cover the floor and steps leading in through two large oak doors. On the outside of the door, to the right is a large posterboard with notices and signs from the Perigaland council posted all over it. Mostly it is a mess of notifications of the like such as that chickens must now be kept in confinement, or that Bindle Hurdlebuck is hereby notified that he is no longer allowed to bring his cows to water from the town well. It also features a large notification to adventuring types:
Wanted!! Anyone taller than 3 feet who is willing to go on adventures in service of the town of Perigaland. Such unsavory characters are welcome if they have arrived for work, otherwise we hope you enjoy your stay before you depart to more dangerous lands.
A small note had been tacked onto the larger message "magical small folk or anyone of note excepted."
Out to the side of the town hall is a small stone temple structure that features symbols of all of the halfling Gods across the top of the door frame.
Halfling patrols stand on the flimsy looking wooden walls that surround the town, and a few even patrol the streets. They all seem to carry Heavy Crossbows or Repeating Heavy Crossbows, as well as short swords, shield and scale armor, making them look more imposing than they probably are. The hubub of the crowd is ever-present, arguments and conversations drift over you, blending together into a large barely discernable babble. The smells of good food cooking are everywhere and are inescapable and overpower even the most pungent body odors.

Blossom was on an adventure today! No, she was not tracking down dire-were-wolves and finding missing people, and she wasn't searching for buried treasure or something. Her adventure was much more mundane, but in a way, just as or even more entertaining. For she had the pleasure of stumbling upon Perigaland. Usually, she was rather shy and nervous about going into cities. The most she had ever done before, if she even ventured in one, was keep to herself, stalking amongst the shadows and rooftops invisibly, watching the people going on with their lives, but not understanding much else.
So many people were around, but it was lonely. A tragedy in its own right. Not too long ago, that changed, however. After a stint she had with some other friends she made and accompanying them as they helped another town out with their problems, she wasn't so afraid anymore. This humble little trading town was going to be a sandbox. A sandbox for a little pixie from the wilds to play in.
Blossom stealthily flew in, completely bypassing the gates and walls entirely by going over them, sticking to what she normally did before. Then with a deep breath, she finally decided to begin interacting. At first she appeared in the market area, picking up and closely examining even the most worthless of trinkets. Many passerbys simply raised their eyebrows as they went or ignored her altogether. The merchants, however, while on one hand glad to have someone so keenly interested in their wares, were not glad to have 'patrons' without so much as a copper to their name.
Eventually she was shooed away, where she went to bother the next person. The food was nice, but as it was quite clear the pixie was fairly dirty and had no means to pay for anything, either she was told to simply not touch anything or received a small morsel along with a pat on the head. It was almost like feeding a stray cat. Once she entered a random shop only to be driven away by an irate dwarf waving around a piece of his fine merchandise crafted in cold iron, no less. No one around this area seemed to want to talk much and seemed quite expectant of her, so she moved on.
The next thing that caught Blossom's interest was the lovely elven bard outside the temple of Sune. The tunes wafted through the air into her receptive ears, and she followed them like a moth to flames. Listening to the sweet song, she lied down on the ground and relaxed, near the company of other halflings who were even dancing along to it, and she was almost completely enraptured by the melody. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply.

The bard played a tune of love, a positive, uplifting and happy song about a family and their loved ones surviving in the world through community spirit. The very sort of thing Halflings and Elves both enjoy. It was fast-paced enough to dance a little too - as the halflings were - and yet slow enough to relax to. A Blossom sat a small female halfling carrying a bucket of water and a sponge came over and sat down beside Blossom. She too wore a white robe and a holy symbol of Sun about her neck. She was smiles and sunshine and Blossom immediately felt even more relaxed. "Would you care for a bath little one? I could give you somewhere private if you like. We can also supply food for tired travelers such as yourself if you are in need." Before Blossom could reply a very very very old looking Halfling walked up to listen to the music, he leaned on an old wooden staff that appeared to have grown into it's shape instead of being crafted. Motes of green light danced about him as he entered the area of the music, as if the music was coming to life as it touched his flesh. "Take her up on her offer, when you are done I would like a word or ten with you if it pleases you." he said, his voice carrying both power and wisdom - yet somehow also the mischievousness of a typical Halfling.

Blossom probably would have declined the offer. And with a friendly giggle no less. Something along the lines of she'd only get dirty again and she was no weary traveler. Well maybe she was a traveler, but not in the same sense as other humanoids who went from town to town... But the extremely aged halfing was quite intriguing. There was something about him, and no, it wasn't just his staff or the lights dancing around him. Looking up, first to the charitable missionary and then to the old man, she asked, "Who are you, Elder? I'm happy to speak with you now, in the company of such lovely music." Standing up with a smile, she performed a curtsey ... with her hair. "Or with anyone nice and anywhere pleasant, really."Whoops, let's see if I can add a roll! Knowledge (nature) to see if I know anything about the staff and/or lights: kKTHMeIS1-20+12 lol I swear this is legit I'm still not sure how to make it add up the bold numbers and do "20 + 12 = 32" 1-20+12

Wow!!! You know the type of staff, they are in fact very young Treants who have willingly become a staff to assist those good of heart who care for the wild. Sometimes the most powerful Druids wield them. Not inherently a magic item however, the staff is generally mundane in the hands of most. You also know that the staff has the power to respond to the magic within the land, to make crops grow and heal wounded trees.
Your high level of Knowledge also tells you that this man is not a Druid. It is very rare indeed that such a creature would surrender itself to being nothing more than a staff to a non-Druid.
" Indeed, who am I? A question I have spent almost a century pondering. Today you may call me Dunn the Green. All of Perigaland is nice and pleasant I would hope, this music is perhaps the nicest thing we have here however - aside from the food that is." he pats his stomach which now you look at it, appears rather full. " I was wondering if someone as lovely and charming as yourself could do me some favours? I would be very grateful and could offer you a small reward in return. But first, you should clean yourself up a little and have some hot food. I strongly suggest the Pumpkin Pies."

The kobold almost immediately regretted coming to this town as soon as he stepped in and saw just how its population broke down. He had no problems with the halfling small folk - in fact he more than likely preferred their company to some of the other creatures around, at least the Strongheart variant. They shared a kobold's strong sense of community, and they both tended to have nomadic and migratory patterns - even if there were some unsavory aspects to their racial character. So a small community of them seemed, at a glance, to be a preferred place to way over for a bit before moving on to the next town for whatever he drew his interest. Instead, he almost immediately wanted to fly out of town and make for the next community - or stay out in the wilds instead - when he saw that a quarter of the town's population was divided between gnomes and dwarves. And he probably would have, if it wasn't for him trying his best to avoid the attention and, worse, 'company' of the fellow underground races, instead doing his best to keep his cloak low over his scaled snout, and his wings hidden as he tried to keep as many halflings between him and the urge to soak his daggers in blood once more. That was when he noticed the rather large advert for adventuring help, decided to try and throw his attention towards that matter. Who knows, perhaps it would take him outside of the town and give him a small payment to boot. Moving as sneakily as he could to avoid the attention of those around, particularly the gnomes or dwarves, the kobold would go to where it said to inquire with. Hide: UoKTudFo1-20 + 27. 1-20

Blossom smiles warmly. "Well, Dunn the Green, it's nice to meet you! My name is Blossom. If a young treant is willing to be your staff, I'd be more than glad to help you! Of course, there's no need to repay me." A short beat later and something clicked. "Does my appearance bother you?" she asked tilting her head. She then looked over to the halfling woman to acknowledge her presence, though she didn't feel she could give an answer just yet. She would have answered and been quite polite about things, but this commanding individual had stepped in and began talking to her instead.. (commanding as in has quite a presence, not as in bossy)

Sjach GixThe entrance hall is large, with an expertly crafted set of oak stairs spiraling up to the next floor, the carving on the rail is almost at the standard of elvish work. The floor is a large tile mural that features a halfling with green dragon wings standing on top of a hill holding a flaming torch raised in one hand, and a cup in the other. Paintings of what you are assume are the past leaders of the town line all of the walls, around a dozen in all. All but 2 of them feature Halfling males, the other two feature halfling women. Every single painting has their name under it and all of them have the last name of "Dalibrandy". As the doors swing shut behind you, powered by a gnomish looking contraption, a halfling noble woman dressed in what appears to be elvish silk, comes down the stairs. " Welcome to the town of Perigaland." She greets you. " What may I do for you today good sir?" she seems unphased by any issues regarding his appearance. BlossomHe laughs, a deep happy sound. " No my dear, you do not bother me in the slightest. But being clean is not such a bad thing and can go a long way to avoiding trouble later. Perhaps you would not be shooed away like a bug so much if you instead presented yourself as more an equal to the folk of this town. As for my staff, he is an old friend of mine, we go way back and I spared his father from some serious problems a long time ago. We help each other out these days." The halfling lady had sat patiently listening. She nodded to Dunn. " Listen to him little lady. He knows a thing or two you know. Of course no one will every force you to something you don't like aroun dhere. We are just here to offer kindess." she finishes smiling.

The kobold couldn't help but let out a silent, angry click of his tongue against the inside of his mouth as he saw the gnommish construct automate the door - far from being impressed with the work, especially because his own kind could make far superior devices to any gnommish artifice! His kind just used such mechanisms for useful projects, rather than just for show. Even the carved wood did little to impress the reptile, and instead just showed off how much wasted effort was put into show and displays of wealth, rather than useful ends. Yet, curiously, he found himself far more accepting of the mural and paintings that were displayed along the hall. His turquoise eyes actually taking time to admire the work. His own kind had a similar, albeit not exact, analogue to this at least. The oldest tunnels in their warrens were dedicated to depictions of their tribe's history, their founding, leaders, and famous heroes and events that helped defined who and what their tribe was... And for a moment, a deep frown entered his features, as he remembered the section of his tribe's mural dedicated to Sjach Jesk, and then his hatching... Yet, before he could dwell to much on it, and yet that brooding well of self-hatred and guilt come to the surface again, the arrival of the halfling woman offered a welcome distraction from the painful memory, his clawed hands unclenching as he faked a false smile towards the woman, packaging away such thoughts for another time. "Yes, I came here about the advertisement for help," he spoke, with a small nod towards the door he had come from in case that would make things clear. "I am a few inches short of the height requirement, but I have quite a few interesting... skills that could be of use, for the right pay."Bluff check to try to conceal his emotional turmoil! The kobold's head tilted the side, with a brief click of curiosity from his tongue flicking against his teeth. He stared at the woman for just a moment, trying to get a sense of her... before the reptile attempts to poke the halfling woman, to see if she was physical. She seems perfectly normal and alive to you.
You stand there for a moment staring at her. Before you get the urge to poke her she speaks again. " As I was saying sir, he wont be back for some time, you had best seek him out by the Shrine of Sune." She pauses and curtsies. " I need to excuse myself now. Time for morning tea." she smiles and walks quickly up the flight of stairs.

The kobold gave a small mutter about the prospect of having to face seeing so many gnomes and dwarves in draconic, and so closely again, before offering a small nod towards the halfling and making his way out, keeping to the shadows and side of the roads to try to avoid attracting any attention as he looked for the man. At least he had the portrait of him in the office to try to identify what he looked like... Hide check to remain unnoticed by the crowds as he searches for the elder halfling: dcR6Mn5g1d20+27 1d20+27

To that, Blossom emitted her own sweet, melodic laugh. "I had no intention of presenting myself as an equal, as one of the townsfolk here. I know I don't belong, and my visit was to be brief..." Turning to the halfling woman, she said, "I appreciate the kindness. Truly you have a noble heart, but I am happy as I am." She tried to wave the woman away as politely as she could, still showing her happiness that another was trying to offer such kindness. Returning her attention toward Dunn, she said, "I know there is wisdom to your words, but it is simply not my way of life. I imagine after a bath, then will come a haircut. Then clothes and lessons on social etiquette. Perhaps I'd even be offered a home and a place here. And before long..." She shook her head. "I just wouldn't be who I am anymore..." Her mood shifted to its chipper, usual self. "Anyway, Mr. Dunn, what is it I can do for you? Pumpkin pie does sound lovely.. I'd be happy to just have some of that!"I suppose at this point I'm just making up any excuse to stay with the character concept.. But man, you were close!

Sjach GixYou make it easily down to the Shrine of Sune without anyone spotting you or paying you any attention. You spot the man you are after sitting near the Shrine talking to a pixie and a small halfling woman. He seems a little different from the picture though and is carrying a strange looking staff. The Sune bard is still singing and playing music to a small crowd of Halflings. As you approach a Halfling carrying a tray of what smells like Lamb meat pies walks up to the Shrine. " Copper for a nice fresh lamb meat pie!" Blossom" Ahhh my dear I understand you perfectly. We must always be true to our real inner selves." He looks up at the Halfling lady. " Two slices of your lovely Pumpkin Pie thank you." and places a gold coin in her hand. " As a donation dear.". As the Halfling lady stands to leave, smiling and nodding at you both, you hear a small call from among the crowd. " Copper for a nice fresh lamb meat pie!" Dunn looks down at Blossom. " Trust me. The Pumpkin Pie is much better." he winks.

The kobold might have spotted the familiar pixie, rather than the halfling, a sight which brought a small smirk to the kobold's scaled lips - whilst he didn't really care if he saw the fey again, her presence was... enjoyable enough during his last adventure. So cooperating with her on another task seemed like a decent enough plan. He gave a glance towards the pie seller for a moment, before contemplating against sneaking over to try and purchase (or steal) a pie, and instead attempted to slink his way over towards the small group of halflings and the pixie, until he was close enough to speak. "You're starting to have a bad habit of crossing paths on where I'm wandering, you know," he stated, with a small grin towards the pixie, before turning towards Dunn, offering a sleight nod of his head. "Sjach Gix... Acquantance to our young fey here, and inquiring upon that job you had posted."

Blossom smiles with the talk of various pies. "Oh, I'm sure! Besides, the poor lambs... I just.. I just couldn't unless I was absolutely starving! Though I've never been in such dire straights anyway." The kobold's voice makes the pixie turn around, and she smiles with delight. "Oh, Gix! Nice to see you here! I was just talking with Dunn the Green and listening to some nice music." Looking back over to the ancient Hin, she thinks for a moment and asks, "I don't suppose the favor you had in mind is related to his.. job?"

Accepting the Pumpkin pie that is handed to him by the returning Halfling (another slice is offered to Blossom) Dunn smiles a very cheeky devious smile over taking a bite. He chews for a moment before replying through half a mouthful "Perhaps it might be." and gives a sly wink.
He motions for Gix to sit down and gestures for the Halfling to offer some pie to the Kobold.
