This is a cool little bit I found from Dragon Magazine #301.
I am going to quote the description from the article Meter and Measure.
"Masterpiece performances are works of famous quality. They are the compositions, dance routines, epics, songs, poems and plays that people hold to be the very best of their art. In the hands of a competent performer one of these pieces is gripping, but when performed by a true master of the piece, the performance seems to have a magic and life of its own ... A performer who has mastered a masterpiece gains extraordinary benefits. His performances of that work seem better than his other artistic endeavors, and a competent bard can often accomplish stunning feats when using one of these works in conjunction with bardic music."
Now for the crunch. There are several different performances listed in the article with a price, as well as a table for crafting your own if you possess the feat. In addition to the gold cost they require the character to invest skill ranks into them in order to use them, Similar to investing ranks in a skill trick. A character must invest 1 skill point per 1000 GP of the Masterpiece's cost. Once a performer has mastered a masterpiece, they can use its effects to modify the correct bardic music ability.
Now, this was a 3.0 Article so I'll be updating the info and also making it compatible with Grod's Bard Fix. A restriction I'm placing is that you only gain the bonus when playing the Refrain(read: Standard Action) and not just the Chord(read: Swift Action) I'm also going to suggest that a character should also only have to invest 1 skill rank per 2000 GP of the Masterpiece's cost since I upped the cost for balance reasons. Anyways here's the table with the information about the prices. I only listed the ones that I may be using, but would be happy to include all of them at some point.
Here is an example from the article.
The Trials of Ramir:
Fluff stuff: An epic saga depicting the trials of a deity in order for him to ascend to godhood.
Crunch Stuff:
Once you have mastered the Trials of Ramir you may Inspire Greatness in up to three additional targets.
Cost: 3000 GP
