Players are allowed to use homebrew and fan made content when creating their characters or designing adventures to DM. If you have a particular bit of homebrew content you would like to include, post a request for it Here And the staff will review and discuss the matter for inclusion.
On this site, we have Divided Homebrew Content into 4 Categories.
Type A: Content in this category has been reviewed and found acceptable, and may be used by players freely. Players will not be penalized for using it, and it can be treated as if it were official material
Type B: Content in this category has been approved, but with a specific modification that is not listed in the homebrew content description. These changes are either done in the case of homebrew content that does not mesh well with the games setting, or content that is otherwise acceptable, except for one or two elements which are felt to be either over or under powered. This also includes official content with specific modifications to it.
Type C: This content is borderline playable. Content in this category has the potential to be extremely disruptive to gameplay, depending on the character it is used with. In some cases, the homebrew only adds a small benefit, while other character builds can break the game dynamic entirely due to the interaction of the character mechanics. Content in this category is usable for characters, but players will be expected to provide a clear explanation of what they are planning on creating. Expect the staff to very carefully review the submission.
Banned: Homebrew that has been deemed unsuitable for use here on the board. Characters using banned homebrew will be refused, period.
As a final note, please try to limit the number of different homebrewed content you include in one character. Homebrew content was never made with consideration to other fan-made content, and the interactions between two different sources is difficult to predict or fully determine the scope. Character submissions with multiple, independent homebrew should expect significantly more time spent on the review process, and will be judged more critically.
