The group finds themselves upon the Gray Dusk. Both the men and the elves seemed to get along quite merrily as the ship set out from port. The captain didn't much care for your presence or the expedition as a whole as it turns out given his comments about how foolish the young lord was, and how he wished that his debt was paid so that he could leave him stranded in the middle of the Shining Sea. About one day out from the port however you hear a lookout call "Ships on the horizon. I count five. They're heading straight at us. The one on the lead doesn't look like it'll be slowing down any time soon. It's trying to ram us."
The captain yells, "Activating the runes. Everyone stay still," as he bites into his thumb and presses the blood on the center of the steering shaft. Suddenly several runes, not noticeable before, begin to glow a ghostly blue across the ship. The wood of the ship becomes paler and paler as the runes glow brighter until they suddenly stop and the wood of the ship returns to its normal hue. The captian yells at you, "Prepare for combat. We'll be flanking the other ships. The invisibility won't last long. Someone go fetch Vorn from below deck and tell him its a Code 22-5. You three man Gretta(refering to the large balista on the front of the ship). The rest of us prepare to board the enemy's middle left ship. We're taking the fight to them, crew. You specialists wait for Vorn to get up here and he'll transport you to the other target."
Vorn, a half elf with a long gray cloak, blonde hair, and average build, accounted for one half of the Gray Dusk's resident mages, excluding the captain. As he gets on deck he looks at you and says,"I hope you can handle a ship on your own. I'll be sending you to one and staying here to defend. Everyone come close, I've got some magic to help you stay alive. It'll get hectic fast, but keep your wits about you. These dirty pirates don't have anywhere close to the training you have. If you can get to the enemy captain and his lieutenants and take them out the rest of them will probably jump ship. May Tymora be with you. Let me know when you're ready to board. We don't have long"
Vorn is casting Bear's Endurance one everyone before you go over. In addition you all gain +1 to attack and damage against the pirates, though you don't know why. You all recognize the flags of the enemies as raiders from Luskan.
